Wolsak & Wynn Anounces Mahak Jain Joining Buckrider Books Editorial Board
For Immediate Release
Wolsak and Wynn is happy to announce that award-winning author Mahak Jain has joined the Buckrider Book’s Editorial Board where she will join poet Liz Howard and senior editor Paul Vermeersch.
Mahak Jain’s picture book Maya (illustrated by Elly Mackay) was a CBC Best Book of the Year, a Kirkus Best Book of the Year and was also the winner of the 2017 South Asia Book Award. Her short fiction and poetry have appeared in magazines across the US and Canada, and she has been long listed for the Writers’ Trust of Canada/McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize.
Paul Vermeersch said, “I am delighted to welcome Mahak Jain to the Buckrider Books editorial board. Mahak brings a wealth of writing, editing and publishing experience to our board that I believe will greatly enhance our list.”
The Buckrider Books editorial board was put in place in 2017. It was the idea of senior editor Paul Vermeersch, who hoped to broaden the reach of the press and help address the lack of diversity in the publishing industry. The first members of the board consisted of Jordan Abel, Jen Sookfong Lee and Canisia Lubrin.
