The Poetry Cabaret with Ellen Chang-Richardson

  • Library and Archives Canada 395 Wellington Street Ottawa, ON, K1A 0N4 Canada (map)

From Bona Vista to Vancouver Island, this land was made for poetry! Since Confederation (and probably before) people have been announcing that Canadian poetry is at a crossroads. Join us for an evening of readings that investigate where we come from and where we are and a conversation between four of Canada’s most dynamic poets. Shani Mootoo (Oh Witness Dey!) and Ellen Chang-Richardon (Blood Belies) excavate, examine, and gain sapience from the resonating lines of colonialism’s traumas across Turtle Island and around the world — while Dina Del Bucchia (You’re Gonna Love This) and Matthew Walsh (Terrarium) dig deep into the awkward, funny, and deeply present feeling of living moment to moment.

Tragedy and Comedy — from seas to shores. This is an evening of poetry and conversation that asks the big questions: who do we come from, how are we now, and what SNL Character are you?
