Point of View with Lauren B. Davis

Presented by Flatiron Writers Room LLC.

Who’s talking? And to whom? Why choose one Point of View over another? How do we avoid the "spinning heads"?

In this 3-hour class for beginning or experienced writers we’ll discover the opportunities and limitations of the various forms of point of view — omniscient, limited, objective, first, second, and third persons — as well as explore who is being addressed — the reader? Another character? The self? We’ll also look at the point of view mistakes that can seriously derail an otherwise terrific piece of writing.

Although geared primarily to the fiction writer, the subject is just as important to the memoirist or anyone working in creative non-fiction.

Through lecture and writing exercises the student will learn how to effectively employ point of view, and how to choose among them.
