As part of their Fall Literary Series, McNally Robinson and the Winnipeg International Writers Festival are presenting Tanis MacDonald in conversation with Sharanpal Ruprai. 

Host Sharanpal Ruprai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Winnipeg, which is located on the original lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. Sharanpal Ruprai’s début poetry collection, Seva, was a finalist for the Stephan G. Stephansson Award for Poetry by the Alberta Literary Awards. Her second collection, Pressure Cooker Love Bomb, will launch in April 2019. Her poetry is featured in a number of anthologies: GUSH: menstrual manifestos for our timesThe Calgary RenaissanceRed Silk: An Anthology of South Asian Canadian Women Poets, and Exposed. She has been featured on CBC Radio Calgary, as a book columnist. Sharanpal Ruprai is one of four poetry editors for Contemporary Verse 2: The Canadian Journal of Poetry and Critical Writing (CV2).
