VPL: The Spirits Have Nothing to Do With Us: New Chinese Canadian Fiction

  • Alice MacKay Room, Lower Level, Vancouver Public Library, Central Branch 350 West Georgia Street Vancouver, BC, V6B 6B3 Canada (map)

If you’ve been waiting for an all-star evening with some of the brightest Chinese-Canadian authors writing today, this is your lucky day.

In her new novel, Landscapes, Christine Lai takes us on a one of a kind journey of diaries, voyages, art and trauma in the not too distant future. Then there are the stories from both established legends and some of our most promising new voices in The Spirits Have Nothing To Do With Us, a short story collection that offers a unique window into a rich culture.

Starting with a conversation with Christine Lai about her new novel, and followed by readings with six contributors to The Spirits: Eddy Boudel Tan, Sam Cheuk, Anna Ling Kaye, Lydia Kwa, Isabella Wang and Yilin Wang—this will be an unforgettable evening.
